Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Undernet.Cloud accounts, X and registered IRC channels.

What is CService?

CService is the channel-service system used by Undernet.Cloud. GNUWorld provides the service bot X, account authentication and registered-channel access management.

Do I need an account to connect to IRC?

No. You can connect to the IRC network without a CService account. An account is required for registered CService features and registered-channel access.

Why must I verify my email?

Email verification confirms that the address supplied during registration is accessible before the CService account is activated.

Is my CService username my IRC nickname?

Not necessarily. Your CService account and your current IRC nickname are separate. Authenticate the account after connecting to IRC.

How do I authenticate?

After connecting, use:

/msg X LOGIN username password

How many simultaneous logins can I have?

Normal CService accounts are configured for a maximum of 3 simultaneous authenticated IRC sessions.

How many channels can I register?

Normal accounts are limited to 5 registered channels. CService administrative/staff accounts may be exempt.

I forgot an X command. What should I do?

Use X's built-in HELP command or visit the X Commands page.

/msg X HELP

What IRC server should I use?

Use irc.undernet.cloud. TLS connections on port 6697 are recommended.
