CService Documentation

Learn how to connect to Undernet.Cloud, create a CService account, authenticate with X and manage registered channels.

Getting Started

Undernet.Cloud uses GNUWorld CService to provide registered IRC accounts and channel management. The service bot is X.

To use registered channel features, first create a CService account and verify your email address.

Create CService Account

Connecting to IRC

Configure your IRC client using the Undernet.Cloud IRC server.

Server: irc.undernet.cloud TLS Port: 6697 Standard Port: 6667
TLS on port 6697 is recommended whenever your IRC client supports encrypted connections.

CService Accounts

Your CService username is independent from your IRC nickname. One account can therefore be used while connected with different IRC nicknames.

New website registrations require email verification before the account becomes active.

Normal CService accounts may authenticate up to 3 simultaneous IRC sessions.

Logging in to X

After connecting to IRC, authenticate your CService account with X:

/msg X LOGIN username password

After successful authentication, X associates your IRC connection with your CService account.

Never give your CService password to another user or enter it into an untrusted website, bot or script.

Registered Channels

Registered channels are managed through X and the Undernet.Cloud CService website.

A normal CService account may manage up to 5 registered channels. CService staff accounts may be exempt from this limit.

Channel managers can use the website dashboard to view their channels and manage CService access entries when their access level permits it.

Channel Access Levels

CService uses numeric channel access levels. Higher levels provide additional channel-management privileges.

The channel manager normally holds level 500. Lower access levels can be assigned to other registered users depending on the authority they need.

The website prevents ordinary managers from granting another user access equal to or higher than their own effective access.

Account Security

Use a unique password for your CService account. Registration passwords are never stored by the website as plaintext.

Email verification links are single-use and expire after 24 hours.

Always verify that the website address is cservice.undernet.cloud before entering your credentials.
